Shidduch Exchange Program

Every Shadchan knows that it is the guy who has the “long list” and calls the shots in the world of Shidduchim. In the meantime, even the best of girls wait patiently for a Shadchan or some well meaning friend, acquaintance, relative, neighbor, or co-worker to propose (no pun intended!) a date.
Well, the way things have been done until now is about to change. “Shidduch Exchange” is a revolutionary, yet simple concept that has the potential for saving today’s problematic shidduch dating system.

HOW DOES THE SHIDDUCH EXCHANGE WORK?
When a single girl meets with a Sponsor/Shadchan (volunteer or professional), she will present that Sponsor/Shadchan with a list of the  appropriate  boys with whom she has previously gone out but who just are not for her. The single would not be expected to introduce names of those who she feels may be detrimental to the overall process.
No information that went on between them in their meeting(s) is presented.
The information that is given to the sponsor/shadchan is that information that was initially presented to the person representing that single that piqued their curiosity and eventually caused the two to go out.
This would include the boy’s profile along with references and assorted other pieces of pertinent information. Again, none of the information from their date would be shared.
With this new information the Shadchanim would now have an even greater amount of boys to potentially look in to for their girls.

Q: What is the Shidduch Exchange?
Shidduch Exchange is a program giving young women a better chance than ever of being redt a shidduch.

Q: How does it work?

When a single girl meets with a Sponsor/Shadchan (volunteer or professional), she will present that Sponsor/Shadchan with a list of the  appropriate  boys with whom she has previously gone out but who are just not for her. The single would not be expected to introduce names of those who she feels may be detrimental to the overall process.

Q: What would be included in those profiles?

The profile would be a combination of the basic information originally provided by the shadchan that presented that boy to this girl’s sponsor/shadchan as well as the references provided. To protect the privacy of the males, no information from their date would be included.

Q: A single’s status can change in an instant. How will the Shadchan know whether or not any of these boys are still available?

It is incumbent upon the Shadchan to do his/her homework and to go through the process to speak to that single’s sponsor/shadchan and be brought up-to-date before suggesting that single.

Q: How do the shadchanim contact single females who are interested in this unique program?

Actually, the singles will do the contacting. Single females who wish to take part in this program, that should expand the dating pool of available males, will register.  They will then search the MakeAShidduch Foundation database for registered shadchanim and make their choice as to whom to contact by reviewing the info submitted by the Shadchanim.

Q: After they choose the Shadchan, they think they’d like to use, what happens?

The Single will send an introductory email to the shadchan of her choice and out of that contact they will hopefully agree to meet. If the single feels that this Shadchan is not for her, she will be able to search out others.

Q: What is the protocol for their meeting?

The key difference between the singles' meeting with this Shadchan, as opposed to others with whom she may have met before, is that the single girl will be providing the profiles of males she has dated previously. This means that the Shadchan will now have many more opportunities to offer boys other singles may have never heard about. This does not mean the boys will say yes, but, through the expanded numbers of males now available, there will undoubtedly be a new pool from which the shadchanim can choose thus increasing the available boys for our single girls enhancing their chances of a shidduch.

What Shadchanim may take part in Shidduch Exchange?
All shadchanim, professional or volunteer, may register to take part in this new, innovative program. It is important to note that to be fair, and for this process to work smoothly, it is strongly suggested that when there is interest in any of the boys provided, the original Shadchan be contacted first. This will greatly improve the chances for success in redting the shidduch.
